The CART House

What is CART House?

The Child Abuse Response Team (C.A.R.T.) House is Canadian County's Child Advocacy Center. The center is a child-friendly and safe place where a child can tell a team of professionals about his/her abuse and begin the healing process. The Child Abuse Response Team (C.A.R.T.) is an innovative response to child abuse. Caring professionals recognize that to better help the children suffering from abuse, they need to share information and work together. Prior to the C.A.R.T. House, a child was required to tell his/her tragic story of abuse more than one time to law enforcement agents, attorneys, child welfare workers, and others involved in the investigative process. The C.A.R.T. House was established to reduce trauma of the victims by preventing the need for multiple interviews.
